Life Chez Dee Episode #87: Walking With Poles
Walking … we all know the benefits of getting out there in the great outdoors, blowing off the cobwebs and getting a healthy dose of fresh air in the lungs. The most convenient, cheapest, and safest exercise to do, good for our physical, and mental wellbeing, and anyone can do it. I’ve always enjoyed walking … just a stroll by myself or with friends; a long walk with the family; or something more purposeful on a day out somewhere. Flat walks, circular walks or steep walks … u

Life Chez Dee Episode #34: Walking with Oli
I know I’ve written quite a few blogs about my adventures out and about with the Nordic walkers, but today was rather special for me. Oliver is still on school holidays and asked if he could come with me; I cleared it with Ewa, but I knew deep down she’d be okay with it, he was with me, and he’d already proved himself capable of coping and keeping up when he’d walked with the group before. He’d had his first taste of effective walking when he came along with Bart, Ewa and lot

Life Chez Dee Episode #27: Walking is good for my body, mind, soul and writing
Today I went for a walk …. A Nordic walk. Those of you who read my blogs regularly, will know how much I love Nordic Walking. I’m hooked. I’ve skipped a few sessions. We’ve been away on holiday, and of course the Summer Holidays have made things a bit tricky for me to go for my walk with poles as I need to be around for Oliver. That’s not to say that I’ve not been walking, goodness no. We’ve done lots of walking during the summer holidays, and particularly on our break in Cor

Life Chez Dee Episode #16: Music, walking, and more music
I decided to write this blog about two things I’ve loved this week. One being walking; one being music; and how much they’ve intertwined with each other. I set off walking on Thursday morning with a group of Nordic Walkers I’d not been with before. We met at the Beach Café at 10am. I was telling Bart about not being able to come along for a walk this evening as I was going to another concert at school, to watch both William and Oliver. I was overheard saying this and one chap

Life Chez Dee Episode #14: Its good to walk
I’ve just been for another walk today … you might even be able to call me a “Nordic walker” now. I only messaged Bart to say I was going this morning, as I wasn’t sure I’d be there at all. I had such a shocking day yesterday …. a complete write off … well most of the day was at least. I hardly ever get headaches … but yesterday I woke with a bit of a nagging one … didn’t really pay it much heed – went on the school run, had lots of water to drink, but by the time I got back h

Life Chez Dee Episode #8: Walking with Poles
So today I decided to try out Nordic walking. I’ve been thinking for quite some time now that I need to get back to getting my backside into gear and doing a bit of exercise. I’m so busy with so many things; the kids, the charity, just life in general, and its so easy to get out of the habit of exercise, and, certainly in my case, pile the pounds on too. I’ve done power walking before, well fast walking anyhow. I tried doing fast walking rather than running as I hated running
